site requirements

This is a brief overview of site requirements. You must engage a qualified pool builder to coordinate design, preparation and installation of the bath to industry standards and regulations.

  • Environment: The Sognefjord Base is made from durable materials and is weather resistant, but indoor or covered locations are recommended for best performance and service life.
  • Weight-bearing location: Confirm the site can support 1,500 kg or more when filled and in use. Use a rigid, level surface rated for the full wet weight plus users.
  • Level surface: Place the bath on a level surface. A slight drainage fall is OK if the bath is fully supported and levelled on its feet.
  • Wet area and drainage: Locate the bath in a wet area with a floor waste. The bath includes a bottom drain fitting that can be connected to your preferred drainage path.
  • External plant room: Provide an accessible external plant room or suitable service area to house the required cooling, circulation, filtration and sanitisation components. Ensure the plant room allows for safe installation, ventilation, drainage, servicing and future maintenance access.
  • Plumbing pathway: Allow a suitable plumbing pathway between the bath and the external plant room. Pipe routes should be built before installation, including penetrations, waterproofing, wall cavities and insulation to help prevent condensation.
  • Entry and exit: Choose a position with safe access. The outer step can mount left, right, or front. Wall-mounted grab handles are recommended for safe entry and exit.
  • Access to water: Provide nearby access to potable water for top-ups and water changes. The bath can be filled through the open top or through the circulation system, depending on the pool system design and installation. A water levelling system can also be integrated if desired.
  • Shower: Provide shower facilities to rinse before use. Showering before use helps maintain water quality.
  • Installation pathway: Confirm the bath can be moved safely to its final location. Check doorways, corners, stairs, ramps, lifts and access points before delivery.
delivery
  • Free shipping: Shipping is free Australia-wide with every Sognefjord Base.
  • Packed for transport: Each unit is boxed, strapped to a pallet and shipped with FedEx/TNT.
  • Pallet size and weight: The packed pallet is approximately 2.1 m long x 0.9 m wide x 1.3 m high and weighs roughly 400 kg.
  • Kerbside delivery: Delivery is kerbside, meaning the pallet will be unloaded in a safe location near the driveway or property access point.
  • Someone must be present: Someone must be on site to receive the delivery.
  • Moving into position: The unit is heavy and will require multiple people, suitable equipment or specialist movers to move it into its final location.
  • Installation support: For difficult access, final placement or complete installation, Fjord can provide assistance at an additional cost.
installation

This is a brief overview of installation steps. We recommend engaging a qualified pool builder or other trades to coordinate design, preparation and installation.

  • Site readiness: Confirm the site, drainage, water access, plant room, components, pipework, waterproofing and insulation are ready before installation.
  • Position bath: Move the bath into place, allow access for setup and maintenance, then level it on its adjustable feet.
  • Design and build plant room: A pool builder should design and build the external plant room to house the required cooling, circulation, filtration and sanitisation system. The plant room should allow for safe installation, ventilation, drainage, servicing and future maintenance access.
  • Connect bath: Qualified trades should connect the bath to the external plant room system, including the drain, suction and return pipework, and any required electrical connections.
  • Commission system: Fill the bath with clean potable water, then test the full system to confirm correct flow, cooling, filtration, sanitisation, drainage and leak-free operation.
  • Ready to use: Once commissioned, set the desired temperature, confirm water quality is balanced and the bath is ready for use.
maintenance & service

Best practice maintenance should follow the pool builder's recommendations and the guidelines for the selected system components.

As a guide, water quality should be tested and balanced regularly, filters should be cleaned or replaced as required, and the bath, fittings and waterline should be kept clean. The external plant room should also be checked for leaks, ventilation, flow, pressure, drainage and correct equipment operation.

For best performance, we recommend engaging a qualified pool technician to service and maintain the system on a regular schedule.
